TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The Allen-Bradley 1756-CNBR interface module is employed for ControlNet Network communication. The main distinction between it and the 1756-CNB interface module is that it features an extra ControlNet port that allows redundant media. The 1756-CNB only has one ControlNet BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) port, but this module has two. Both modules have a single ControlNet RJ45 (Registered Jack 45) port.

Like the non-redundant interface module, the 1756-CNBR handles planned data in conjunction with the Logix5550 Controller and connects the ControlLogix backplane with the ControlNet Network. A redundant ControlNet medium can be used to prevent communication loss if a tap or trunk line is disconnected. You can only use the 1756-CNBR interface module for such connections.

This module's technical specifications are comparable to those of the non-redundant module. Up to 64 planned and ad hoc bidirectional connections with other ControlNet devices can be managed by it. The module may accommodate up to 20 unconnected message buffers.

The best choices for this module are applications with communication speeds of 5 MB/s and 40–48 connections for each communication module. It has 99 operational nodes. The 1756-CNBR interface module consumes 970 mA at 5.1V dc and 1.7 mA at 24V dc in terms of current.

When connecting, it's crucial to avoid reversing the tap connections. If so, troubleshooting will be necessary to fix these reversals, and the status will be inaccurately presented. By looking for the label designating the attached section on the tap-drop cable, you can make sure they are in the right order.

The Allen-Bradley 1756-CNBR interface module can be used to connect to a ControlLogix controller or to construct distributed I/O architectures across a fast ControlNet network. Two ControlNet ports on this module make it possible to connect to regular and redundant ControlNet networks.

The 1756-CNBR interface module supports the ControlNet protocol's standard 5 Mbps transmission rate. It employs an RG-6 coaxial wire with four shielding layers as a trunk cable. This module can support up to 64 connections and between 40 and 48 logical communication connections. A maximum of 99 nodes can be supported.

The ControlLogix processor can have the 1756-CNBR installed as a local communication interface module beside it, or it can be installed as the primary communication module in any distributed Input/Output rack. It is compatible with the 1756-A13, 1756-A4, 1756-A17, 1756-A7, and 1756-A10 ControlLogix racks. It can be installed in any available slot and takes up only one chassis space. The 1756-PB75R, 1756-PA75R, 1756-PSCA2, 1756-PC75/B, 1756-PH75/B, 1756-PA75/B, 1756-PB72/C, 1756-PA72/C, respectively, are examples of redundant and conventional power supplies that may be used with it.

The 1756-CNBR interface module comes with an extra physical RJ45 NAP (Network Access Port) with eight pins for programming. The 1756-CNBR module, powered by the backplane, uses 1.7 mA at 24 V dc and 970 mA at 5.1 V dc. It dissipates 5.1 Watts of electricity and 17.4 BTU of heat every hour.
