The 1769-IF4 CompactLogix controller is an analog input module. When used with MicroLogix 1500 or 1769 CompactLogix controllers, this module is set up using the RSLogix 500 or the RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 programming environments.

The module features four single-ended or differential inputs. Their full-scale analog current and voltage ranges are 0 to 21 mA, 3.2 to 21 mA, and 10.5V dc, -0.5 to 10.5V dc, -0.5 to 5.25V dc, respectively. However, the usual operating ranges for the current are 0…20 mA, 4…20 mA, and ±10V dc, 0 to 10V dc, 0 to 5V dc, and 1 to 5V dc for the voltage. An Analog to Digital (ADC) circuit with a Delta-Sigma conversion type is built into this module. The conversion module has a 14-bit (unipolar) and 14-bit plus sign (bipolar) resolution. The module can configure the data it processes in engineering units, scaled for PID, percent range, or raw data.

The 1769 Compact I/O modules may be adjusted using the parameters provided, such as process warnings, input filtering, real-time sampling, etc. The inbuilt open-circuit detection is immediately enabled when a channel is enabled. This open circuit detection also turns on the module's under-range error bit. The controller can be alerted to errors when the module detects them. These errors can be shown as non-fatal system errors that may also be connected to a monitoring system such as HMI (Human Machine Interface) or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).

A compact analog I/O module by Allen-Bradley is the 1769-IF4. Analog data may be digitally transformed and stored. The four differential or single-ended channels in this module may auto-calibrate when they are first engaged or when their configuration differs from that of the channel before it. It should be noted that this module does not provide loop power for analog inputs and that an external power source meeting the needs of the input transmitter is necessary.

Other characteristics of the 1769-IF4 include a common mode rejection ratio of more than 60 dB at 50 and 60 Hz and a normal mode rejection ratio of -50 dB at 50 to 60 Hz. It has an open-type enclosure and can be mounted on either a DIN rail or a panel. Solid 22-14 AWG and stranded 22-16 AWG connecting cables are compatible with the 1769-IF4. This module features an LED status indicator and measures 87 mm x 35 mm x 118 mm.

The maximum current consumption of the 1769-IF4 is 120 mA at 5V dc and 60 mA at 24V dc. The maximum common mode voltage per channel is 10V dc, and the rated operating voltage is 30V ac or 30V dc. The operating temperature range for the 1769-IF4 is 0 °C to +60 °C (32 °F to +140 °F), whereas the storage temperature range is -40 °C to +85 °C (-40 °F to +185 °F). The module operates with 10 to 500 Hz, 5 G, and 0.030 peak-to-peak vibrations. Its working height is 2000 meters, and its non-condensing relative humidity ranges from 5 to 95%.
