The Allen-Bradley 1769-SM2 Compact I/O module is designed for seamless integration with CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 controllers. It facilitates communication through Drive Serial Interface (DSI) and MODBUS protocols, allowing interface with both PowerFlex 4-class and PowerFlex 7-class drives. The module operates efficiently in single or multi-drive modes and can be used as a local expansion for MicroLogix 1500 or as a remote I/O for CompactLogix systems. It supports data transmission speeds from 300 to 38400 bps with MODBUS RTU and ensures reliable power with a backplane current draw of 350 mA at 5V DC. The 1769-SM2 offers robust functionality with its ability to control up to 15 PowerFlex 4-Class drives across three channels from a single unit, all within a compact, lightweight design measuring 4.65 inches by 3.43 inches and weighing just 5 ounces.
