The FX2N-48MT-ES/UL model is a programmable controller from the FX family. It can be programmed to carry out a predetermined course of action. A control system's parts are known together as a programmable controller. Engineers may use different words to refer to the same control system, although PLC and programmable controllers are popular. The FX2N-48MT-ES/UL model operates by repeatedly looping through a user-defined internal program, during which it waits for inputs and produces outputs at predetermined intervals.

On the contrary, there are no limits on the number of serial or parallel connections connected to the PLC.
