The National Instruments WSN-9791 is a sophisticated Ethernet Gateway Device optimized for use in wireless sensor networks. Utilizing IEEE 802.15.4 radio transmission capabilities, this device operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, allowing for reliable data collection from multiple sensor nodes within a range of up to 300 meters. The WSN-9791 serves as the network coordinator, effectively managing authentication and message buffering across the network, and facilitates seamless communication by bridging the 802.15.4 wireless network and an Ethernet network. It supports a standard Ethernet connection with data rates of 10 or 100 Mbits/s, enabling easy integration with existing Ethernet infrastructures via a Category 5 cable. The WSN-9791 can accommodate up to 36 authorized sensor nodes and features LED status indicators for monitoring device operation. With a compact design, it weighs 8.8 oz without the antenna and 9.1 oz with the antenna, ensuring a low-power yet effective communication solution for robust measurement applications. Although the NI WSN-9791 has been designated as obsolete by National Instruments, it will continue to be available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
