TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC counter module is utilized in industrial applications for high-speed counting. This module offers configurable input signal processing, including frequency and counter modes. The default mode, the counter mode, has a 2 ms refresh rate for data.
The 1756-HSC counter module compares user-configured presets to the count values before evaluating them, so users can alter how the count data is stored. As a result, the module can activate outputs more quickly than it could if the controller were to do an evaluation.
The 1756-HSC counter module's preloaded configuration tags specify the frequency of the pulse being counted by the direction of rotation. It will have either a positive or a negative one. A cumulative count of 1 to 16 million is also shown. Two software-configurable tags let an accumulated count sequence start and end.
The 1756-HSC counter module has four outputs (2 points for every group) and three inputs (Z, B, A ) for each counter. Maximum input frequencies range from 250 kHz in encoder mode to 1 MHz in counter mode, with 500 kHz in rate measurement mode and 70 Hz when the filter is activated.
There is no limit to the number of output channels that can be assigned to a counter channel, and there are two preset turn-off settings per output. The user can enable or disable the outputs of the 1756-HSC counting module.
For 12/24V operations, the operating voltage range is between 10 and 31.2V dc, and for 5V operations, it is between 4.5 and 5.5V dc. The backplane dissipates 1.9 Watts of power, and its maximum power dissipation at 60 °C is 5.6 Watts.
The Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC counter module is used for applications involving counting and determining the direction or speed of rotating objects like motors. This module may be used with encoders and pulse-generating equipment, such as flow totalization meters and magnetic pick-up sensors, to measure the equipment's rotational speed.
There are built-in Counter and Frequency modes in this module. The chosen mode controls the output behavior and how the pulse is counted and stored.
Setup tags like module data and diagnostics are generated when the module is initially set up in the programming software's hardware configuration. Depending on the firmware update, the programming software may not be Studio 5000 Logix Designer or RSLogix 5000.
This module can also be mounted in a chassis that is far away or in a chassis without a Central processing unit. This installation requires RSNetworx for this module to function. Network Update Time is activated by launching RSNetworx. When the module and processor are installed together, they do not need to be executed.
