The Allen-Bradley 1756-OF8H analog output module features 8 channels that may be either for current or voltage. They can be set up with 0...20 mA or 4...20 mA current signals and ±10V dc voltage signals. Every module channel supports the Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) Communication Protocol, making it possible to link HART-capable equipment, including communicators, to obtain module data and state and connect to the software program.

On all signal ranges, the 1756-OF8H analog output module has a module resolution of 15 or 16 bits. It contains an internal digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that uses the R-Ladder monotonicity using the no missing codes conversion technique and the IEEE 32-bit floating-point data format.

This module only takes up one slot on a ControlLogix 1756 chassis when installed. It can function as a local or remote Input/Output module component. This module contains a removable terminal block (RTB) for the termination of signal wires. This RTB may be swapped out for either the 1756-TBNH or the 1756-TBSH using user-defined physical RTB keying.

When 1756-TBNH is utilized, 0.33-2.1 mm2 (22-14 AWG) for single-wire connections and 0.3-1.3 mm2 (22-16 AWG) for double-wire connections are the appropriate wire sizes. The 1756-TBSH is designed for wire sizes ranging from 0.33 to 1.3 mm2 (22 to 16 AWG) and only enables single wire connections.

The continuous isolation voltage rating for the 1756-OF8H analog output module is 50V. Module isolation only applies to output channels to the backplane. None of the output channels have personal isolation. Additionally, the module's open circuit detection time is only usable with the current setup, and the overvoltage protection is limited to up to ±24V dc at its highest level.

The backplane current consumption for the 1756-OF8H ControlLogix voltage/current analog output module is 230 mA at 5.1V dc and 230 mA at 24V dc, with a 6.54 Watts backplane power. It dissipates 4.92 Watts of electricity and 16.78 BTU of heat each hour. The fundamental insulation between the output channels and the backplane of the 1756-OF8H analog output module was tested at 1500V ac for the 60s and had an isolation value of 50V.

The 1756-OF8H analog output module supports Open-Circuit Detection with a detection time of less than 0.1 mA. Its voltage settles in 8.5 ms, while its current settling time is slightly under 23 ms without HART and below 37 ms with HART. Its standard calibration interval is roughly 12 ms, and its calibration accuracy (without HART) is 0.1% for voltage and 0.15% for current.

The offset drift for the 1756-OF8H analog output module is 100V per °C or 200 nA per °C, and the total module error is 0.15% (voltage) or 0.3%. (current). Although it uses user-defined mechanical keying, the module keying may be adjusted electrically and through software. The temperature code is ATEX, T4 North America, and IEC, and it is approved for open-style enclosures. The 1756-OF8H can operate in a range of temperatures between 0 °C and 60 °C with a relative humidity of 5 to 95%.
