The Allen-Bradley 1756-PB72 ControlLogix power supply has a 24V dc power input. Overcurrent protection is integrated into it. The power supply also has strengthened insulation that was put through a 60-second test at 3500V dc.

The 1756-PB72 power supply's input frequency ranges from 47 to 63 Hz. Its measurements are 140 mm by 112 mm by 145 mm (5.51 in. x 4.41 in. x 5.71 in.). This power supply weighs approximately 950g (2.10 lb). It can function at non-condensing relative humidity levels between 5 and 95%. For the power supply, the operational shock is 30G, while the non-operating shock is 50G. It vibrates between 10 and 500 Hz at a 2G frequency.

The 1756-PB72 power supply's operational temperature is 0-60 °C (32-140 °F), while its inactive temperature varies from -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F).

Surge transient immunity for the signal ports of the 1756-PB72 power supply is 1 kV line-line and 2 kV line-earth. The EFT/B immunity on signal ports is 4 kV @ 5 kHz. Residential locations are not intended for the use of the 1756-PB72. Thus it could not provide adequate protection against radio transmission services there.

The backplane, which supplies power to the ControlLogix chassis as a whole, is powered by the 1756-PB72 power supply. It may be installed on any ControlLogix Series A, B, or C chassis. It needs a nominal 24V dc input source. The module can deliver output currents of 4A at 3.3V dc, 10A at 5.1V dc, and 2.8 A at 24V dc once the power supply is available.

The leftmost portion of the chassis is where the power supply is installed. A power supply insertion slot is available on every ControlLogix chassis and doesn't take up any module slots.

When the chassis is placed straight on the mounting plate, the provided mounting holes are used to hold a power supply module. Since the chassis and this power supply module come into direct contact with the mounting plate, the ground terminals of both of them must be properly connected.

The item already has a wire terminal because this power supply is of type DC. When the cover door is pulled out, this terminal is reachable. DC+ and DC- symbols identify positive and negative supply returns at the terminals. Connecting the protected earth to the ground bus or chassis ground is recommended.

This power supply has a simple status indication to communicate the module's state visually. It features a single LED light put in the module's upper right corner.
