TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The Allen-Bradley 1769-IQ16 Compact I/O module is a DC digital input module with sixteen 24V dc sink/source inputs separated into two groups with eight input points each. It runs between 10 and 30V dc at 30 °C (86 °F) and between 10 and 26.4V dc at 60 °C (140 °F). It draws 115 mA current at 5.1V dc and has an input delay of 8 ms. The maximum off-state voltage and current are 5V dc and 1.5 mA, respectively.

For the on-state, the minimum voltage is 10V dc and the minimum current is 2 mA. The 1769-IQ16 has a nominal input impedance of 3K Ω and a maximum inrush current of 250 mA. It features a 75V dc operating voltage and enhanced insulation of IEC Class II. One of the following dielectric tests was used to confirm this isolation voltage: 1200V ac for 1 s or 1697V dc for 1 s.

In an open-style enclosure, it can dissipate heat at a maximum of 3.55W. Its measurements are 118 mm x 35 mm x 87 mm (4.65 in x 1.38 in x 3.43 in), and it weighs around 270g (0.60 pounds). The module can be put in a DIN rail or on a panel. There are several choices for the power supply: the 1769-PA2, 1769-PB2, 1769-PA4, or 1769-PB4.

The system's power supply distance rating is 8 modules, thus regardless of which option you select, a module cannot be located farther than 8 modules from the system power supply. The wires are made of Cu - 90°C (194°F) and come in two sizes: 22...14 AWG (American Wire Gauge) (solid), and 22...16 AWG (stranded). Its working limits for temperature and humidity are 0 °C to +60 °C (32 °F and 140 °F) and 5% to 95% non-condensing, respectively.

This module works well with magnetic contactors, thermal protection mechanisms, relay interfacing, sensors, switches, auxiliary contacts, and other 24V dc voltage-rated ON/OFF devices. Two sets of eight inputs each make up the input channel grouping in this module. Input channels 0...7 for group 1 and 8...15 for group 2 compose the isolated groups of the module. Both sink and source configurations can be used by the isolated groups.

The programmable controllers MicroLogix 1500 and CompactLogix 1769 are both compatible with the Compact I/O module. When used with the CompactLogix controller 1769, this module may be placed in either the local I/O or an I/O bank. Any close-by module, including the CPU, may have a power supply linked to it if the power supply distance rating is followed. To use this module with a MicroLogix 1500, it must be installed after the base unit or in any module that comes after the base unit.

Depending on the controller being used, the 1769-IQ16 may be configured with one of the following programming software: RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, or Studio 5000. The module features fine-tuning settings including module inhibition, packet interval, slot assignment, and revision number that are available through the programming tools. The programming software allows access to files that include module addressing information and module input data.
