The Allen-Bradley 1771-DSX2 module serves as the main CPU and information processor for PLC-5 systems, featuring a front panel equipped with a keyboard interface, VGA monitor connection, three communication ports, a parallel port, and a PCMCIA card slot. It requires a backplane current of 1.2 Amps at 5 Volts DC and supports integration within a single 1771 chassis alongside I/O modules and a power supply. For enhanced connectivity, the module can be linked to ControlNet through a 1771-ACN15 I/O module, enabling the PLC-5 controller to manage I/Os across both local and remote chassis, with optional integration of a 1771-SDN DeviceNet module for expanded network functionalities.
