The Allen-Bradley 1771-KD Interface Module, part of the PLC 2 series, is a versatile communication interface designed to connect the Data Highway Module with RS-232-C compatible devices and replace older communication processors like the 1771-KC and 1771-KE. Capable of longline, direct, or modern connections, it ensures seamless integration with RS-232-C devices and can act as a slave interface between a SCADA master and the Data Highway network. This module supports a baud rate of up to 19.2 kilobits per second and features robust communication ports, powered by a 5 Volts DC supply at 1.2 Amps sourced from the mounting rack. Installation requires a single slot in the 1771 I/O chassis within 100 feet of the DH cable, with keying positions specified for secure fitting. Equipped with six switch assemblies for communication configuration, it uses various interface cables and features five front panel LEDs for diagnostics, enhancing reliability with 16-bit CRC and 8-bit BCC error-checking systems.
