The Allen-Bradley 1771-KE is a sophisticated PLC 2 Communication Interface Module designed to seamlessly connect Data Highway modules with RS-232-C compatible devices. This module can effectively replace 1771-KC/KD communication processors and supports various connection types to accommodate different distances, serving also as a slave interface between a Data Highway network and a SCADA master. It features data highway and RS-232-C communication ports with a maximum baud rate of up to 19.2 Kbps, requires 5V DC at 1.2A from the rack for power, and is equipped with diagnostic LED indicators. Installation requires one slot in the 1771 I/O chassis, placement within 100 feet of the data highway cable, and utilizes specific data highway and terminal interface cables, ensuring secure data transmission through CRC and BCC checks.
