The National Instruments 777741-01, also known as the PCI-6713, is a high-performance analog output device designed for waveform generation and precision control applications. This versatile device features an update rate of up to 1 MS/s per channel with 12-bit resolution across eight channels, making it ideal for high-speed deterministic control, power supply management, stimulus-response testing, and sensor/signal modeling. The 777741-01 excels at replacing multiple independent instruments such as function generators and PID controllers, thanks to its capability for simultaneous multichannel output. Users can easily generate both complex and standard waveforms—including sine, square, and sawtooth—controlling every data point for each channel.
In addition to its analog capabilities, the device includes two 24-bit, 20 MHz counter/timers and eight TTL/CMOS compatible digital I/O lines. It supports external clocking and digital triggering, enhancing its versatility in various applications. The 777741-01's fully switchless and jumperless design allows for easy installation as a Plug and Play device compatible with PXI, PCI, and CompactPCI platforms. Utilizing the National Instruments MITE bus interface chip, the device connects seamlessly to the PCI I/O bus, enabling software configuration for all interrupts and base memory addresses.
For timing precision, the 777741-01 employs the National Instruments DAQ-STC system timing controller, featuring three timing groups that manage the general-purpose counter/timer and analog output, with a resolution of up to 50 ns and a total of ten counters (seven 24-bit and three 16-bit). While the device does not utilize the analog input portion of the DAQ-STC, it provides the timing and control precision required for high-performance applications. The integrated Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) bus facilitates the synchronization of multiple measurement functions to a single trigger or timing event. In a PXI chassis, the RTSI lines are part of the backplane, negating the need for additional RTSI cables for triggering and timing.
Overall, the National Instruments 777741-01 is a robust solution for dynamic analog output and control tasks in demanding industrial settings.
