The National Instruments 778539-01, also known as the PXI-6552, is a versatile 20-channel Digital Waveform Generator and Analyzer designed for effective interfacing with digital electronics. This module supports custom, programmable voltage levels and provides precise bidirectional control on a per-cycle and per-channel basis. Equipped with deep onboard memory, the 778539-01 facilitates advanced triggering and pattern sequencing, making it ideal for the characterization, validation, and testing of digital electronics and bidirectional communication systems. It operates within a voltage range of -2.0 V to 5.5 V, achieving a maximum toggle rate of 50 MHz across data channels with a resolution of 10 mV for voltage levels and thresholds. The module features a 50 Ω input and output impedance, enhancing signal integrity.

For flexibility in configurations, the NI 778539-01 allows independent control of data and PFI channels. It offers multiple clocking options, including an onboard clock with a frequency range of 48 Hz to 100 MHz and external clock inputs, which support various operational modes and enhance adaptability in testing conditions. The sample clock can be exported to synchronize multiple instruments, promoting cohesive setups. The onboard memory architecture, utilizing Synchronization and Memory Core (SMC) technology, provides 1 Mbit per channel for both signal generation and acquisition.

The module demonstrates exceptional performance with a DC generation accuracy of ±20 mV, acquisition accuracy of ±30 mV, and low channel-to-channel skew of ±300 ps, ensuring high data fidelity. Designed for operation in a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and capable of installation at altitudes up to 2000 meters, the 778539-01 maintains robustness for various environments. Its compact dimensions of 18.6 cm x 13.1 cm (7.32 in. x 5.16 in.) make it suitable for integration into diverse systems. Users can easily calibrate, configure, and control the device using the NI-HSDIO driver software, which also provides programming interfaces for National Instruments LabVIEW (7.0 or later), LabWindows™/CVI™ (6.0 or later), and Microsoft Visual C/C++ (6.0 or later).
