The National Instruments 778572-41, also designated as PXI-2541, is a high-performance PXI RF matrix switch module designed for demanding test system applications. This module features an 8x12 non-blocking RF signal switching matrix, enabling simultaneous connections between any row and column, thereby enhancing operational flexibility. It is engineered to handle a maximum switching voltage of 60 V DC and a maximum current of 0.5 A per channel, with a specified maximum RF power of 10 W per channel within a 50 Ω system, effectively managing up to three channels simultaneously at this power level up to 300 MHz.

The unit exhibits robust RF performance characteristics, with a typical initial DC path resistance of less than 2.1 Ω, which may increase to 3.1 Ω over the relay's lifecycle. It maintains an insertion loss of less than 3 dB from row in to column and less than 1 dB from row in to row out for signals up to 300 MHz. The Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) remains below 2.2 from row in to column and below 1.8 from row in to row out. For applications requiring larger matrices, multiple 778572-41 modules can be cascaded to create configurations such as 8x24 or 8x36.

Dynamic capabilities of the 778572-41 include the simultaneous activation of up to 40 relays and impressive operate and release times of just 0.25 ms. The module supports a high mechanical endurance rating of up to 10 million cycles, while its electrical endurance is contingent upon load conditions. Triggering is facilitated through PXI trigger lines, with minimum pulse widths of 150 ns and configurable output pulse widths ranging from 1 μs to 62 μs.

Connectivity is provided via 28 MCX jacks, and the module operates effectively within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C. Compliance with various safety and EMC standards ensures reliability and performance consistency. The compact design measures 21.6 x 2.0 x 13.0 cm (8.5 x 0.8 x 5.1 in.) and has a weight of 410 g (14.46 oz.). The National Instruments 778572-41 is backed by a warranty of 1 to 3 years, making it a dependable choice for sophisticated RF switching applications.
