The National Instruments part number 778729-01 is the PCI-4474 Sound and Vibration Device, designed for high-precision measurement in sound and vibration applications. This module is equipped with four simultaneously sampled input channels, which can be configured as pseudodifferential. Featuring a 24-bit delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter, the PCI-4474 offers a flexible sampling rate that spans from 102.4 kS/s to 1.0 kS/s, with granular increments of 190.7 μS/s. The onboard FIFO buffer memory supports up to 1,023 samples and utilizes Direct Memory Access (DMA) for efficient data transfer. Users can measure both alternating and direct current signals thanks to the AC/DC coupling options, while the device comes with overvoltage protection rated at ±42.4 V and a frequency stability of ±25 ppm.

This module requires no current at +3.3 VDC, up to 2,000 mA at +5 VDC, and 120 mA at +12 VDC. With compact dimensions of 17.5 cm × 10.7 cm (6.9 × 4.2 in.) and weighing 184 g (6.5 oz), the PCI-4474 includes an SMB male connector for analog I/O as well as an SMB male digital trigger connector. It also features both analog and digital triggers, with the analog triggers routable through PX trigger lines and achieving 24-bit resolution. The digital triggers are compatible with 5 V TTL/CMOS, supporting both rising and falling edge signal detection with a minimum pulse width of 100 ns.

The PCI-4474 is designed for indoor use, operating effectively in ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 50 °C and a relative humidity range of 10% to 90% (non-condensing). It can be stored at temperatures between -20 °C to 70 °C, with humidity levels of 5% to 95% (non-condensing). The device is suitable for altitudes up to 2,000 meters and is rated for pollution degree 2, while enduring operational shocks of 30 g peak and random vibrations from 5 to 500 Hz at 0.3 grms.
