The National Instruments PCI-5412 Arbitrary Waveform Generator, part number 779177-01, is a versatile device designed for generating a wide range of waveforms with precision. It features a single analog output channel capable of producing full-scale voltages from 12.00 Vpk-pk down to 5.64 mVpk-pk into a 50 Ω load, with a DAC resolution of 14 bits. The generator operates with a bandwidth of 20 MHz and provides DC coupling for various applications. Users can select from multiple sample clock sources, including internal divide-by-N (where N is greater than or equal to 1) and an internal, DDS-based high-resolution clock. External clock sources can be connected via the CLK IN SMB front panel connector. The divide-by-N clock supports sample rates ranging from 23.84 S/s to 100 MS/s, while the high-resolution clock operates between 10 S/s and 100 MS/s. The CLK IN allows for sample rates from 200 kS/s to 105 MS/s.

This device utilizes Synchronization and Memory Core (SMC) technology, which facilitates the sharing of waveforms and instructions within its standard onboard memory of 8 MB. The PCI-5412 supports two output modes: arbitrary waveform mode, where a single waveform is selected from a predefined set, and arbitrary sequence mode, which allows for the execution of predefined sequences of waveforms. Operating power requirements are 22 W in normal mode and 26 W under overload conditions. The device is designed for a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C (0 °C to +45 °C in an NI PXI-101x or NI PXI-1000B chassis) and humidity levels of 10% to 90% for operation, while it can be stored safely between –25 °C and 85 °C at 5% to 95% relative humidity. Intended for indoor use, the PCI-5412 can operate at altitudes up to 2000 m. The physical dimensions of the device are 13.4 × 0.8 × 4.2 inches, and it weighs 480 grams.
