The National Instruments 779688-01 PXI Sound and Vibration Module, part of the PXI-4462 model series, is engineered for high-accuracy sound and vibration analysis. This module features four channels dedicated to dynamic signal acquisition, enabling precise frequency-domain measurements. It includes software-configurable AC/DC coupling, IEPE conditioning, and a selection of six gain options, facilitating compatibility with various transducers such as accelerometers and microphones, making it ideal for applications like audio testing, machine condition monitoring, and vehicle noise and vibration analysis.

The 779688-01 provides 24-bit resolution with analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) capable of simultaneous sampling rates of up to 204.8 kS/s. These rates include programmable options of 44.1 kS/s, 48.0 kS/s, 96.0 kS/s, and 192.0 kS/s, aligning with standard audio applications. Its exceptional dynamic range of 118 dB combined with minimal noise and distortion supports both single-ended and differential signal connections. The module achieves amplitude flatness of ±0.1 dB and an average total harmonic distortion (THD) of -107 dB across a frequency range from DC to 92 kHz.

In addition, the 779688-01 boasts two channels of 24-bit analog output essential for stimulating systems while measuring their frequency response. The outputs utilize advanced 64-times oversampling delta-sigma modulators and 8-times oversampling interpolators, allowing output conversion rates up to 204.8 kS/s with a THD of -95 dB at 1 kHz and the same amplitude flatness of ±0.1 dB. To eliminate unwanted out-of-band components, the output channels are equipped with analog and digital anti-imaging filters. For applications that require more channels, multiple NI 446x devices can be synchronized using a shared digital trigger and clock, with timing discrepancies reduced to less than 0.1 degrees. The NI-DAQmx driver software facilitates this synchronization process.
