The National Instruments 780411-01 RF Signal Downconverter, also known as the PXIe-5601, is a sophisticated module engineered for high-performance RF analysis. It effectively converts RF frequencies from 10 MHz to 6.6 GHz into lower intermediate frequencies (IF), optimizing them for digitization. This downconverter is compatible with modular digitizers, enabling comprehensive RF analysis across a variety of applications. The PXIe-5601 delivers finely tuned frequency resolution, achieving levels as precise as less than 1 Hz for frequencies below 1.3 GHz, less than 2 Hz for frequencies between 1.3 GHz and 3.1 GHz, and less than 4 Hz for frequencies up to 6.6 GHz.

Designed for precision and stability, this module features a highly stable timebase with an accuracy of ±50 parts per billion, enhancing the reliability of measurements. Input-related spur and local oscillator (LO) leakage management are integral to its design, with typical LO leakage levels of less than -60 dBm for frequencies up to 3 GHz and less than -55 dBm for frequencies up to 6.6 GHz, minimizing signal distortion and improving measurement fidelity. Weighing 454 grams and with compact dimensions of 21.6 cm × 2.0 cm × 13.0 cm, the module supports instantaneous bandwidths exceeding 50 MHz for RF signals from 330 MHz to 6.6 GHz.

The PXIe-5601 excels in spectral purity with phase noise performance as low as -111 dBc/Hz at 100 MHz, making it ideal for high dynamic range signal analysis. Its robust IF rejection capabilities ensure minimal interference from undesired signals, allowing for clear and accurate signal processing. The module supports both AC and DC coupling and features SMA female connectors for RF IN, IF OUT, LO IN, and LO OUT ports, providing flexibility for various RF testing configurations. Additionally, it can handle high input power levels with a maximum allowable continuous RF power level of +30 dBm when RF attenuation is activated.

Designed to comply with stringent safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards, including IEC 61010-1 and EN 61326-1, the NI 780411-01 operates efficiently within an ambient temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and can be safely stored in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 71 °C.
