The National Instruments 780587-41, also known as the PXIe-2531, is an advanced 8x12 RF matrix switch module that provides versatile RF signal routing capabilities. This non-blocking matrix design allows for simultaneous connections between any rows and columns, making it suitable for complex RF signal management among devices such as digitizers, function generators, and analyzers. The module is engineered with isolation relays that disconnect unused components, ensuring high isolation and optimal RF performance. It can be expanded to form larger switching matrices of 8x24, 8x36, or more, accommodating applications that require higher channel counts.

Designed for reliability and efficiency, the NI 780587-41 features a maximum switching voltage of 60 V DC and supports a continuous current of 0.5 A per channel, with a switching power limit of 10 W per channel. It can handle simultaneous RF power of up to 10 W per channel for up to five channels at frequencies reaching 300 MHz, all while maintaining a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω and exhibiting low insertion loss and VSWR. The isolation level exceeds 75 dB between rows and columns, with crosstalk typically below -35 dB, ensuring superior signal integrity.

In terms of dynamic performance, the unit supports a simultaneous relay drive of up to 40 relays, with an operating and release time of 0.25 ms, and boasts a mechanical relay lifespan of approximately 10 million cycles. Programmable output pulse widths enhance its trigger characteristics, and it is compatible with PXI trigger lines. The module fits conveniently into a single slot of any PXI or PXIe chassis, with dimensions of 21.6 cm x 2.0 cm x 13.0 cm and a weight of only 410 g. The operational temperature range is between 0 °C and 55 °C, making it suitable for various environments. Additionally, the module adheres to compliance and certification standards, including IEC 61010-1 for safety and multiple EMC regulations, ensuring its reliability in demanding applications.
