The National Instruments 781420-10 Matrix Switch Card, also referred to as the NI 2810A, is a high-density switching solution designed to integrate seamlessly with the NI SwitchBlock. This modular card affords significant versatility and modularity, enabling users to configure a tailored multicard device by combining it with other NI 2810 cards for intricate signal routing applications. It supports a maximum switching voltage of 150 V, with row/column-to-ground isolation also rated at 150 V, and is capable of handling a maximum switching current of 1.0 A per channel, maintaining a similar current carrying capacity. Each channel can switch up to 20 W of power, making the card suitable for moderate power tasks while offering effective thermal management to prevent overload during prolonged usage.

The card features a low DC path resistance starting below 1 Ω, with an aging resistance that remains under 2 Ω. Its impressive isolation performance includes more than 65 dB at 10 kHz, 60 dB at 100 kHz, and 35 dB at 1 MHz, which minimizes crosstalk in high-frequency applications. The relay operation is optimized for speed; it can operate up to 8 relays in under 1 ms and 50 relays in less than 2 ms. Additionally, the mechanical life expectancy of its relays is rated at 1 billion cycles, while electrical life can vary from 1 million to 100 million cycles depending on load conditions, ensuring durability in demanding environments. Each relay consumes 50 mW, with the card's total power consumption capped at 8.8 W.

Its compact design measures 11.2 cm x 1.2 cm x 17.1 cm and weighs 240 g, making it suitable for various setups. The NI 781420-10 complies with IEC 61010-1 and UL 61010-1 safety standards, as well as meeting Class A electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, ensuring safe operation in professional laboratory and industrial settings.
