The National Instruments 781421-34 (NI-2834B) Electromechanical Relay Matrix Module is engineered for high-power applications within SwitchBlock systems, facilitating efficient signal routing in intricate testing environments. This versatile module can function independently as a relay card or can be integrated into a single SwitchBlock carrier or PXI chassis. It excels in dynamic signal routing, minimizing the need for manual rewiring, and enhancing flexibility in switching signal paths between a variety of instruments, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, waveform generators, and power supplies.

The 781421-34 module supports a maximum switching voltage of 100 V (CAT I) and a current of 2.0 A per channel, with a peak switching power of 60 W. It enables simultaneous operation of up to 8 channels at maximum current, while ensuring low thermal electromotive force (EMF) of less than 10 μV, vital for preserving signal integrity. The module boasts exceptional isolation and crosstalk performance, crucial for maintaining high signal quality in densely packed test setups, featuring a typical bandwidth of ≥10 MHz and approximately 45 dB of isolation in an open channel at 1 MHz. Moreover, it manages crosstalk effectively, with values as low as -75 dB at 10 kHz.

Constructed with electromechanical latching relays made from durable palladium-ruthenium with gold covering, this module is designed for longevity, reaching up to 100 million switching cycles under no load and up to 2.5 million cycles under maximum electrical conditions. Compact in design, the 781421-34 measures 11.2 cm × 1.2 cm × 17.1 cm and weighs 373 g. It operates with power requirements of 20 W at 5 V and 5 W at 3.3 V, making it efficient for indoor use within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 55°C, and capable of being stored in temperatures between -20°C and 71°C.
