The National Instruments 782358-01, also known as the PXI-2798, is a high-performance Dual-Transfer Switch Module specifically engineered for routing RF and microwave signals in automated testing environments. This module achieves a maximum scan rate of 5 cycles per second and features an exceptional insertion loss of less than 1 dB up to 40 GHz, ensuring minimal signal degradation, particularly at lower frequencies. Designed for versatile functionality, the 782358-01 accommodates both straightforward signal routing and intricate operations such as the insertion and removal of components within a signal path. The module boasts a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω, with low insertion loss ranging from <0.3 dB to <0.8 dB across frequencies from 6 GHz to 40 GHz. Additionally, it offers open channel isolation greater than 70 dB at frequencies up to 6 GHz, which slightly decreases at higher frequencies yet still provides considerable isolation. With a maximum RF carrying power of 18 W up to 26.5 GHz and 10 W up to 40 GHz, alongside a maximum individual channel current of 0.6 Arms, the module is robust in demanding applications. The required switching voltage input is 30 Vrms, but it is essential to avoid switching active RF signals to protect against potential reflections. The 782358-01 incorporates electromechanical latching relays with an impressive mechanical life of 2.5 million cycles, utilizing Radiall (R578 series) components with gold-plated beryllium copper contacts. The module is equipped with eight SMA 2.9 jacks for I/O connectivity and accepts PXI trigger lines <0...7> with a minimum pulse width of 150 ns, allowing for programmable output trigger pulse widths between 1 µs to 62 µs. The physical dimensions of this transfer switch module measure 21.6 cm x 4.1 cm x 13.0 cm, weighing 279 grams. It requires a total power supply of 2.5 W at 3.3 V, 1 W at 5 V, and 4 W at 12 V, operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, and is suitable for installation altitudes up to 2000 meters above sea level.
