The National Instruments 782835-38, also known as the PXIe-2738, is a sophisticated 2-wire 8x32 Matrix Switch Module designed for high-density signal routing in automated test environments. This PXI Express module leverages electromechanical, non-latching relays to execute instantaneous switch operations, making it ideal for applications that require precise signal management. Integrated health monitoring features include onboard relay count tracking, a temperature sensor, and functional and resistive relay self-tests through the NI Switch Health Center.

This module accommodates a maximum switching voltage of 100 V for both channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground connections while supporting a peak power of 60 W (62.5 VA), constrained by a maximum switching current of 2 A per channel. The minimum switching load is 20 mV/1 mA, and it offers a DC isolation resistance of 1 GΩ at 25 degrees Celsius, with an initial DC path resistance of less than 1.3 Ω increasing to a warranted 2.3 Ω over its lifespan. The 782835-38 enables rapid relay operations, with typical actuation times of 1 ms and a maximum of 3.3 ms, and can drive up to 90 relays concurrently, boasting an impressive mechanical life of 100 million cycles. The electrical relay life varies according to load conditions, achieving 2.5 million cycles at ≤30 mV (≤10 mA resistive) and 100,000 cycles at 60 VDC (1 A resistive).

Measuring 21.6 cm x 2.0 cm x 13.0 cm and weighing just 423 g, the module requires a 12 V power supply at 24 W and 3.3 V at 3.6 W. It features a 160-position DIN 41612 male connector on the front panel and operates effectively within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C with relative humidity levels from 10% to 90%. The 782835-38 maintains a -3 dB bandwidth of ≤10 MHz across both 1-wire 50 Ω and 2-wire 100 Ω terminations. Compliant with stringent electromagnetic compatibility standards including EN 61326-1, EN 55011, and FCC 47 CFR Part 15B, the module also adheres to safety regulations outlined in IEC 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1.
