The National Instruments 783639-01, also referred to as the PXIe-6592R, is a highly capable four-channel high-speed serial instrument engineered for engineers to validate, interface, and test diverse serial protocols. Central to its functionality is a Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA, which allows for the implementation of custom application-specific protocols via LabVIEW FPGA. Each of the four ports supports data rates ranging from 500 Mb/s to 10.3125 Gb/s through SFP+ connectors, accommodating both electrical and optical high-speed cable connections. Designed with flexibility in mind, the instrument features individual TX and RX channels for each port, facilitating robust high-speed serial communication.
The 783639-01 is equipped with programmable function interface (PFI) channels that support a range of voltage families and signal types. Each port provides single-ended channels with dynamic tristate control, capable of handling input voltages from -1 V to 5 V, and achieving a maximum data rate of 100 Mb/s. This module can adapt to various input impedance levels, ensuring reliable signal integrity for demanding applications. Its clocking capabilities include four CLK OUT channels and an SMB connector for CLK I, both of which support frequencies from 10 MHz to 500 MHz, providing precise timing synchronization.
The device's FPGA, the Xilinx Kintex-7 XC7K410T, boasts significant computational resources, including 254,200 LUTs, 508,400 flip-flops, and 1,540 DSP48 slices. Additionally, it comes with 28,620 kbits of embedded block RAM and 2 GB of onboard DRAM, enabling a theoretical maximum data rate of 10.5 GB/s. It efficiently manages data transfers through DMA, interrupts, and programmed I/O with 32 available interrupt channels.
Compact in design, the 783639-01 fits seamlessly into PXI Express or hybrid slots and has a total weight of 397 grams. It operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 °C to 45 °C and can endure shocks and vibrations of up to 30 g, rendering it suitable for various challenging environments. The module also meets rigorous safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards, ensuring reliable operation in both laboratory and industrial settings. The 783639-01 is ideal for engineers seeking precise and customizable solutions for high-speed serial communication testing and development.
