Part Number: 783928-01

The National Instruments 783928-01, also referred to as the USRP-2953R, is a high-performance software-defined radio (SDR) device designed for scalable and adaptable wireless communication solutions. This advanced SDR is equipped with a GPS-disciplined oscillator that enables precise synchronization by locking internal clocks to a GPS reference signal, facilitating accurate position and timing information. The device features two receiver channels, operating within a frequency range of 1.2 GHz to 6 GHz, with a maximum input power of -15 dBm and a programmable gain range between 0 dB and 37.5 dB. A low noise figure of 5 dB to 7 dB ensures optimal signal reception. The onboard 14-bit analog-to-digital converter supports a maximum I/Q sample rate of 200 MS/s, delivering a spurious-free dynamic range of 88 dB.

In addition to its receiving capabilities, the 783928-01 includes two transmitter channels, covering the same frequency range of 1.2 GHz to 6 GHz, with a frequency resolution step of less than 1 kHz for precise frequency selection. The transmitter achieves output power levels between 50 mW and 100 mW (17 dBm to 20 dBm) for frequencies of 1.2 GHz to 3.5 GHz, and 5 mW to 32 mW (7 dBm to 15 dBm) for the higher end of its range. Transmitter gain can be adjusted from 0 dB to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB increments, and the device supports an instantaneous real-time bandwidth of 120 MHz.

For exceptional frequency accuracy, the onboard oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) offers a precision of 25 ppb when not locked to GPS, and 5 ppb when synchronized. The device also consumes 0.7 W with a 5 V active antenna and features 1,024 MB of DRAM for efficient data handling. To ensure optimal performance, periodic recalibration of the GPSDO after locking to GPS for at least one hour is recommended. Compact in design, the 783928-01 measures 26.67 cm × 4.06 cm × 21.84 cm and weighs 1.588 kg, making it suitable for a variety of research applications and communication systems.
