The National Instruments 785976-01, also known as the PXIe-6593, is an advanced high-speed serial instrument tailored for engineers who require precise validation, interfacing, and testing of serial protocols. Featuring a Xilinx Kintex Ultrascale KU040 FPGA, this module boasts 242,400 Look-Up Tables (LUTs), 1,920 DSP48 slices, and 21.1 MB of embedded block RAM, offering robust computational capabilities essential for implementing complex protocols. The device provides 4 GB of onboard DRAM, organized into two 2 GB banks with a 32-bit physical bus width and a clock rate of 1064 MHz. In a LabVIEW FPGA environment, the memory operates at 267 MHz with a 256-bit bus width per bank, achieving a maximum theoretical data throughput of 17 GB/s (8.5 GB/s per bank), making it suitable for high-demand applications requiring rapid data processing.

The 785976-01 supports eight single-ended digital I/O channels, configurable for voltage levels between 1.2 V and 3.3 V, with a maximum output toggle rate of 60 MHz. For high-speed serial communication, it includes multigigabit transceivers (MGT) that support data rates from 500 Mb/s to 16.375 Gb/s, utilizing four transmit (TX) and four receive (RX) channels based on Xilinx UltraScale GTH technology. The device is designed with AC-coupled TX and DC-coupled RX channels, maintaining a nominal input and output impedance of 100 Ω, while its QSFP ports are compliant with SFF-8436 standards and can accommodate both electrical and optical high-speed cables. Clocking resources are versatile, with generated frequencies ranging from 60 MHz to 1000 MHz, supported by three MGT reference clocks. SMA connectors are used for clock inputs and outputs, achieving a nominal output impedance of 50 Ω.

This PXI high-speed serial instrument is housed in a PCI Express Gen-3 x8 form factor, requires 58 W of power, and is designed to operate effectively within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C. The dimensions of the module are 2.0 cm × 13.0 cm × 21.6 cm (0.8 in. × 5.1 in. × 8.5 in.), with a weight of 520 g (18.3 oz). The product comes with a warranty period of 2 to 3 years.
