The National Instruments PXI-5600 (Part Number: 778283-01) is a high-performance broadband RF downconverter designed for integration within a compact 3U PXI module. This advanced device supports a frequency downconversion range from 9 kHz to 2.7 GHz, with an impressive real-time bandwidth of 20 MHz and a minimum tuning resolution of 1 MHz. The PXI-5600 features an ultra-high stability timebase utilizing a 10 MHz OCXO, providing exceptional frequency stability of ±20 ppb and frequency accuracy of ±50 ppb, making it ideal for automated applications that demand precise frequency synchronization. Remarkable frequency performance is complemented by excellent noise density specifications, with typical values of <-140 dBm/Hz from 20 MHz to 1 GHz, <-137 dBm/Hz from 1 GHz to 2 GHz, and <-135 dBm/Hz from 2 GHz to 2.5 GHz. Additionally, the typical phase noise measures -90 dBc/Hz at a 10 kHz offset.

The PXI-5600 ensures consistent and repeatable noise and distortion characteristics across varying time and temperature ranges. With a typical repeatability of under 0.2 dB for a -30 dBm input signal at a 1 MHz measurement bandwidth, it incorporates software compensation strategies to maintain amplitude error under 0.2 dB for temperature changes of 20 ˚C. Operational functionality is supported by the NI-RFSA driver software, compatible with the PXI-5660 RF Vector Signal Analyzer. To facilitate advanced modulation analysis, the optional Modulation Toolkit may be utilized, while frequency-domain analysis requires the Spectral Measurements Toolkit (SMT).

The PXI-5600 is equipped with six connectors including FREQ REF IN, 10 MHz OUT, PXI 10 MHz I/O, OUTPUT, and INPUT, and has a recommended warm-up time of 20 minutes, along with an annual calibration requirement. With outstanding specifications, including over 80 dB spurious-free dynamic range, a full-scale input range of +30 dBm (with RF attenuation enabled) or +20 dBm (with RF attenuation disabled), and compact dimensions of 8.5 x 2.4 x 5.1 inches (21.6 cm x 6.0 cm x 13.0 cm), the PXI-5600 efficiently meets the demands of RF signal analysis applications. A three-year warranty is included, and user and maintenance manuals are available for download. For pricing information, please contact a sales representative.
