The National Instruments PXI-7350 Servo/Stepper Motion Controller Module is designed to accommodate a range of motion applications, whether straightforward or complex, and supports configurations from 2 to 8 axes. The specific part numbers—PXI-7352 (2-Axis), PXI-7354 (4-Axis), PXI-7356 (6-Axis), and PXI-7358 (8-Axis)—reflect the number of axes available in each model. This high-performance module is equipped with capabilities for combined motion path control, including circular, linear, point-to-point, and fully coordinated vector control under constant task or programming conditions. It features eight 32-bit analog-to-digital converters for effective data acquisition and includes a server for advanced motion and trigger path functionalities, achieving a PID update rate from 62.5 microseconds to 5 milliseconds per sample. The PXI-7350 serves as a brushless motor controller through its sinusoidal switching feature. Buffered breakpoints enable precise timing between motion sequences and measurements, allowing for the transmission of position breakpoints to the controller that trigger digital signals upon reaching the designated positions.
Users can take advantage of NI LabWindows/CVI, an ANSI C-based software environment, which offers an intuitive graphical interface for developing custom data acquisition, testing, estimation, and mechanization programs. The NI-Motion programming library includes a variety of example applications for seamless integration with National Instruments motion control hardware. Additionally, the PXI-7350 can be utilized with NI Motion Assistant, providing a convenient point-and-click interface for rapid motion control system development, with the ability to generate corresponding LabVIEW code or generated code upon completion of a motion task.
The module utilizes a digital signal processor (DSP) for comprehensive closed-loop control, including position tracking, PID control, and motion trajectory generation, supported by a custom FPGA for fast encoder interfacing, position capturing, and real-time functionality. Its onboard CPU handles multitasking real-time operating system requirements, including host communications, command processing, multi-axis interpolation, onboard program execution, error handling, and digital I/O operations—all essential for effective motion system integration. The PXI-7350 measures 6.3 x 3.9 inches (16 x 10 cm), weighs 6 ounces (170 grams), and operates within a temperature range of 0 to 55 °C. Comprehensive user and maintenance manuals are available for download for optimal device operation. For pricing, customers are encouraged to contact a sales representative for a tailored quote.
