The National Instruments PXI-7841R is a multifunction reconfigurable I/O module that forms part of the R Series, designed for high-performance industrial applications. It features a maximum sample rate of 200 kS/s and includes eight analog input channels, eight analog output channels, and 96 bidirectional digital channels. The analog input voltage range spans from -10 V to 10 V, while the digital I/O logic levels support 3.3 V and 5 V. The module is powered by a Virtex-5 LX30 FPGA, operating at a maximum clock rate of 40 MHz, which allows users to customize its functionality and timing for diverse applications. Notably, the PXI-7841R can be configured in various ways, accommodating setups for three 32-bit quadrature encoders or eight 16-bit event counters, among other configurations. Utilizing LabVIEW with the LabVIEW FPGA Module, users can modify FPGA functionality and deploy a unique virtual instrument (VI) directly to the module. This capability enables advanced operations, including floating-point processing, real-time computations, and data logging. The PXI-7841R is equipped with Flash memory, which facilitates the automatic loading of a pre-defined VI upon power-up.
