National Instruments PXI-8335

The National Instruments PXI-8335 Interface Module (Part Number: 777947-01) utilizes MXI-3 technology to facilitate communication between physically separated PXI and CompactPCI systems. This robust interface module supports fiber-optic connectivity, delivering a maximum data transfer rate of 1.5 Gbit/s and enabling the control of a CompactPCI or PXI backplane through a PXI/CompactPCI host system. The PXI-8335 is designed for applications requiring the physical separation of automation and measurement systems from the host PC, while also allowing for the integration of PCI, PXI, and CompactPCI devices into a single cohesive system. With MXI-3, users can manage PXI-PCI devices across up to 255 buses using any compatible PCI-based system, contingent on BIOS support for this configuration.

The module also boasts capability for multiple-chassis expansion; a single PXI-8335 can expand a chassis into a second by simply inserting it into a peripheral slot of one chassis and placing a second PXI-8335 in slot 1 of another PXI chassis. The module intelligently configures itself as either primary or secondary by detecting its host slot. Unlike the equivalent PXI-8330, which employs copper cabling, the PXI-8335 incorporates a fiber-optic port that allows for a total link length of up to 30 meters. Although the PXI-8335 has been designated as obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
