The National Instruments RTI-12303 Rear Transition Interface is engineered to facilitate connections between National Instruments PXI and CompactRIO (cRIO) systems and industrial measurement devices using the Switch Load and Signal Conditioning (SLSC) platform. This module supports Digital I/O (DIO), Analog Output (AO), and Analog Input (AI) applications, ensuring a standardized interface for various signal types. It features a total of four Nano-Fit™ connectors, encompassing specialized connectors including JR1-JR5, XP2, and XP3, each intended for different signal and power requirements. The XP2 connector accommodates universal digital and analog signals, with a voltage rating of 60VDC and a current capacity of 1.4A per contact, while the XP3 connector is designed for high current applications, supporting up to 8A per contact. The thoughtful pinout arrangement logically groups signals into ports (P0-P3) and includes dedicated ground connections (GND) to minimize signal interference.

Operating effectively in laboratory environments, the RTI-12303 is rated for temperatures between 0°C to 80°C with a humidity tolerance of 10–90% (non-condensing), and is compactly designed with dimensions of 101.9mm x 30.2mm for easy installation within SLSC rear panels. Its backplane-mounted functionality enhances signal transmission between SLSC cards and external devices. The module supports plug-and-play capabilities through standard cables, significantly simplifying system assembly and expediting configuration development. It is well-suited for applications such as switch operation, signal conditioning, and load simulation within automated test environments, particularly those requiring multi-channel DIO, AO, or AI functionalities. The RTI-12303 also ensures system interoperability and expandability by providing a cohesive connection method for measurement equipment and devices under test (DUTs). Additionally, the interface comes supplied with SET Strain-Relief accessories (93209) to secure cables and protect against mechanical stress. With alignment compatibility for LabVIEW APIs, the RTI-12303 facilitates stable software control and unified management of hybrid systems' signal paths.
