The National Instruments SCXI-1120 is an advanced analog input module designed for the signal conditioning and isolation of various signal types, including thermocouples, current, voltage, millivolt signals, and both 4 to 20 mA as well as 0 to 20 mA process current sources, even in high common-mode voltage environments. This module is also capable of measuring strain gauges, RTDs, and thermistors when external excitation is applied. It features eight isolated input channels with a working isolation of 250 Vrms, allowing for independent channel configuration via jumpers and offering multiple input ranges. Each input channel is equipped with a configurable low-pass filter selectable between 4 Hz and 10 kHz, which enhances its versatility for various applications. The SCXI-1120 supports parallel mode operation for achieving high scanning rates and includes a gain stage for each channel, adjustable to values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000, with an output range of ±5 V.

To utilize the SCXI-1120, a compatible computer, a DAQ device or the SCXI-1200, along with an SCXI chassis (models SCXI-1000, SCXI-1000DC, SCXI-1001, or SCXI-2000) is required. An SCXI terminal block or connector assembly is optionally available. The module supports two output modes: parallel mode, where all eight channels connect to eight DAQ device channels simultaneously, and multiplexed mode, allowing the eight channels to be routed through a single DAQ device channel. The SCXI-1120 is designed with a 50-pin male ribbon-cable rear connector and a 32-pin DIN C male front connector, with an accessory for 18-screw terminal connectivity.

Operating within a temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, the SCXI-1120 measures 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 inches and has been designated as obsolete by National Instruments, though availability for purchase and repairs continues through Apex Waves.
