The National Instruments USB-9221 is a high-performance data acquisition module designed for industrial applications. Featuring plug-and-play USB connectivity, this module facilitates rapid setup and seamless integration with industrial sensors. It offers eight single-ended analog input channels with an impressive input range of ±60 V, making it ideal for high-voltage environments. The USB-9221 stands out with its maximum single-channel sampling rate of 800 kS/s, positioning it as the fastest device in the USB data acquisition lineup.

To ensure safety and reliability, it incorporates a large common-mode voltage range, robust noise immunity, and channel-to-earth ground isolation, with isolation voltages of 1,000 Vrms for D-Sub connectors and 2,300 Vrms for screw terminals. Additionally, it provides overvoltage protection up to ±100 V, enhancing circuit integrity. Versatile wiring options are supported through standard 25-pin D-Sub and removable high-voltage screw terminal connectors. With compact dimensions (12.1 cm x 8.6 cm x 2.5 cm), the USB-9221 is designed for portability, making it suitable for applications like portable data logging, academic labs, industrial testing, embedded OEM projects, and in-vehicle data collection. It requires a maximum USB power draw of 500 mA and operates at a mere 2.5 mA in suspend mode, while fully compliant with high-speed USB 2.0 specifications.

The module utilizes a successive approximation register (SAR) type ADC with a resolution of 12 bits, and features a minimum input bandwidth of 950 kHz. The channel-to-earth ground isolation rating confirms it is fit for operation in measurement category II conditions (2,300 Vrms) and continuous operation (250 Vrms). Recommended software includes LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio, NI-DAQmx driver software, and VI Logger Lite for data logging. It supports operating systems such as Windows 2000 and XP, making it a versatile choice for professionals seeking reliable data acquisition solutions.
