The IC660BSM120 is a Genius I/O System Bus Switching Module designed for connecting I/O devices to two serial buses concurrently. This module operates on 115 VAC/125 VDC and enables seamless communication by linking up to eight discrete analog blocks to a dual bus system. With the addition of extra Bus Switching Modules (BSMs), the system can interface with up to 30 I/O blocks across the same bus configuration. A key feature of the IC660BSM120 is its provision for communication redundancy; in the event of a bus failure, the dual bus setup can offer a backup communication path by connecting every bus to an interface module, such as a Bus Controller or PCIM. The module's control over all major operations is facilitated by a phase B discrete block that includes an output dedicated to the IC660BSM120. This output enables bus switching in the event of communication loss on the active bus. Should the BSM fail to locate an active bus, it will temporarily suspend switching until communications are restored, thus preventing unnecessary interchanges when connectivity is compromised. The IC660BSM120 will connect blocks to bus A when de-energized and to bus B only when required, indicated by an LED that illuminates during bus B operation. Bus switching commands can be executed either via the CPU or a handheld monitor. It is important to note that while the IC660BSM120 and the related IC660BSM021 share identical specifications, they differ in power source, with the IC660BSM021 operating on 24/48 VDC.
