The GE Fanuc IC698RMX016 is a 16MB Redundant Memory Xchange designed for use with the RX7i PACSystems, enhancing system redundancy and performance. This module features 16MB of SDRAM user memory and operates at a voltage of +5 V DC, with a current requirement of 1.8A. It is equipped with a fiber optic LC connector, compliant with IEC 61754-20 standards, and incorporates a zirconium ceramic ferrule, ensuring robust connectivity with a maximum insertion loss of 0.35 dB and a return loss of -30 dB. The operating temperature for the module ranges from -20°C to +85°C.

For successful integration, the IC698RMX016 requires a PACSystems RX7i CPU with firmware version 2.00 or later, a compatible RX7i CPU rack with a power supply, and a PC-compatible computer running CIMPLICITY Machine Edition – Logic Developer PLC version 4.5 or later, along with the appropriate cabling. It is essential to have all Memory Xchange modules installed within a conducting metal enclosure for compliance with radiated emission standards. To optimize performance, it is recommended to install the RMX modules in slots 4 and 3 of the main rack, though this is not strictly mandatory.

The installation process involves ensuring the power is off, sliding the module into the designated slot, securing it with screws, and connecting the fiber optic cables appropriately. Notably, upon power-up, the module initializes in a non-configured state, requiring configuration by the RX7i CPU to become operational within the network. Users can configure various parameters including Redundant Transfer Mode and Node ID to tailor the functionality to their application needs. Additionally, when employed as a reflective memory module, users can extend its capabilities beyond basic operations to include reading interrupt statuses and enabling parity functions, thereby enhancing system performance in critical applications.
